Sundog Poetry Retreat is both retreat and workshop. Small groups of poets (5-7) gather to relax, discuss poetry, and workshop poems in a supportive, noncompetitive atmosphere, enjoy delicious meals, and participate in a reading at a local art gallery.
Participants make their own accommodations (recommendations are given on website). Each retreat/workshop lasts two full days with lunch and dinner for both days included in the rates. There is an optional arrival dinner the night before each retreat. Participants are required to submit two or three poems before the beginning of the retreat for group feedback and provide feedback to others.
Retreats/workshops are theme-based. New retreats are continually added so check back frequently for the one(s) that best suits your interest.
Designed for a small group of 5 to 7 poets, each retreat focuses on a different theme. Some of these themes include narrative poetry, nature, social justice, poetry of place, the poets of Vermont, forms and structures, and an introduction to poetry.
The goals of all workshops are to keep the writer writing and for each participant to learn something significant about poetry, whether about his or her own poems or about poetry in general.
