There
are musical gatherings called ceilidhs, or kitchen
parties, throughout the area during the summer
months.
Some of the ceilidhs are traditional and feature Celtic
music and occasionally step-dancing.
Others
are more contemporary and have a blend of traditional
fiddling, old-timer music, and country western.
|
| Our
hosts at the North Lake Harbour retreat are involved with visual art.
Last September, they sponsored a month long exhibit and a studio tour
in Eastern Kings County where six local painters opened their houses
and studios to the public.
"We
welcome artists and writers of all genres." |

Nearby attractions
and activities:
If you need a break from writing, the area has
plenty to offer.
Lace up your walking shoes and follow the
boardwalk along the Charlottetown Waterfront and
explore the beauty, history, and atmosphere of its
quaint shops, restaurants, and cafes! The
boardwalk begins at Founders' Hall – Canada's
Birthplace Pavilion and continues along
Confederation Landing Park. This well designed
parkland celebrates the historic landing of the
Fathers of Confederation in 1864. Visitors to the
park are able to stroll along the pathways, relax
on a bench, while watching the boats in the
harbour. Following the “blue line” through the
city’s historic district leads to the very
popular boardwalk along Charlottetown Harbour and
Victoria Park.
It surprising how many of
you play golf... If you do, the area has many golf
courses--some considered among the top 20 in North
America. For
